Since launching in April 2015 with Chris Lorenzo and Marc Spence as headline acts, Sum Cellar has gone from strength to strength, with the likes of Cause & Affect and Low Steppa stepping in to lay down sets in the past year. But this time it’s the versatile Amy Becker’s turn to make the descent down into the Cellar with a repertoire encompassing everything from garage to UK funky to bassline. Beginning in 2012, Becker held down a fortnightly Daily Dose Mix residency on Mistajam’s BBC Radio 1Xtra show for over a year, and has since released mixes for Fabric London and Outlook Festival. In the meantime, she has appeared on Boiler Room and Rinse FM, urgently pushing her way to the top of the UK bass music scene. This Saturday, the skilful selector stars alongside grime DJ Alia Loren, Dr Love and others, who are determined to make sure Sum Cellar’s return to the Birmingham scene after an eight-month absence is a good one.
