Since the dawn of man, humans have congregated beneath the stars and escaped the trials and tribulations of everyday life through the time-honoured traditions of music and dance. The opening event of Roar, a new Birmingham nightclub venue, plays on this primitive, animalistic urge, encouraging revellers to lose themselves in the rhythm for a twelve-hour, open air rave lasting from midday to midnight. Although the stage has yet to be revealed in the flesh, the design is hugely impressive, with lasers and lights putting it at least one step ahead of your typical tribal dancing fare. Setting the soundtrack to this afternoon of temporary freedom are Jack Swift, co-founder of London events company Juxx, MTA records signee Sion, Apollo 84 and more.
