As a Grammy award winner and godfather of global dance music, ‘Little’ Louie Vega really needs no introduction – but here goes. Vega has enjoyed a career spanning a whopping 35 years, during which time he has outlasted every passing fad and fledgling flavour of the month and and evolved with the times, starting up his own record label (Vega Records) and mixing salsa, afrobeat, jazz, hip hop and more to great effect. He has released the critically revered albums ‘Nuyorican Soul’ and ‘Our Time is Coming’, the latter with Kenny ‘Dope’ Gonzalez as Masters at Work. As part of this prolific production duo, Vega even found the time to produce for the likes of Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross, Madonna and Jamiroquai… The list goes on. And he shows no signs of slowing up just yet: catch him in action this Saturday at the Rainbow Venues.
