Not often do DJs look as if they enjoy what they do as much as Claude VonStroke, who can often be seen in position behind the decks wearing a smile that never seems far from laughter. And VonStroke does admittedly have a lot to be happy about, his San Francisco imprint Dirtybird signing successful acts such as Justin Martin, Eats Everything and Shadow Child to its formidable roster – and that’s before even mentioning his own sonic exploits. In 2006, he asked house fans, ‘Who’s Afraid of Detroit?’; three albums and countless singles later, VonStroke celebrated the ten-year anniversary of this iconic record with a series of remixes produced by the likes of Octave One and Mark Houle.
