It’s hard to believe but it’s been a whole two years since the Acid Experiment first opened its doors, beckoning Birmingham club-goers into a Day-Glo world of acid house squelch and dewy-eyed nostalgia. To celebrate, the golden age rave brand is inviting none other than Haçienda legend Graeme Park to the decks. If any DJ can be said to epitomise the fearless innovation that characterised the nascent stages of dance music, it’s Park, a true icon and pioneer of all things acid. Back in 1986 when Park opened that box of records containing the very first house 12” singles, all the way from Chicago and Detroit, he knew they were something special – but even he couldn’t have predicted that its contents would sow the seeds for the growth of an entirely new sonic species. Park is joined by London DJ/MC trio Top Buzz and resident selector Altern8.
