On its fifth birthday, 02.31 presents a musical showcase spanning six arenas, and with only phase one of the line up announced so far, there are already enough big names here to justify the price of entry alone. On the first day of October, grime pioneer and eskibeat progenitor Wiley, homegrown 02.31 resident turned global superstar Hannah Wants and drum and bass DJ/producer Shy FX top a star-studded bill among legends of the past, heroes of the now and leading lights of the future. This is an event where none other than Ms Dynamite has been unveiled as a special guest, where massively talented artists such as TQD, Redlight and Low Steppa are mere supporting actors in a huge Hollywood blockbuster of underground sounds and A-list names, such is the strength of the lineup. In other words, it’s going to be a big one, and there’s no telling who will be announced next. Reading the promotional material, I notice it reads: ‘This will sell out’. This is not just hype; it would be a shock if it didn’t.
