David Gedge’s wrist must be hurting after thirty years of violently thrashing the guitar the way only he knows how. Part of the indie C86 movement, though they tried very hard to distance themselves from it, the Wedding Present have ploughed a unique and noisy furrow of blitzkrieg strumming and heartbreak rumination for over three decades. At times megalomaniacally prolific; twelve charting singles in twelve months in 1992 equaling a record set by Elvis, they are that rare rock n roll breed a band that has managed to maintain quality throughout their career. A veritable musical institution and John Peel favourites, he knew a thing or two about music. The band will be celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of the album George Best by playing it in full.
