Over the last five years, Warpaint have evolved from their rambling, psychedelic roots and – intentionally or not – dovetailed with the mainstream’s xx-inspired thirst for glacial, moody atmospherics and muted garage grooves. Last year’s LP ‘Heads Up’ found Warpaint fully embracing this vision of themselves, with taut, impeccable arrangements and yawning chasms of reverb that recalled a radio-friendly Bat For Lashes. But the band built their reputation on their live shows: a generous, immersive swarm of sound, a technicolour display where their recordings are just the study sketch. To really experience where Warpaint are heading, this is the place to meet them.
