Returning for its sixth consecutive outing the uniquely charming Swingamajig is a festival experience like no other. Smiles, nay huge grins are guaranteed, as happy punters mooch about the Digbeth arches in a steampunk wonderland enjoying a dazzling array of nostalgia infused with 21st century pizzazz. Colourful burlesque and magic may give way instantly to blistering live music or raging electro swing beats, you may even stumble across Lindy Hop dance classes, exploring the delightful nooks and crannies of Swingamajig is a real joy. Musical highlights this year include King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys, Swing Punks and Slamboree, but we’re most excited for the eclectic funky retro mentalism of Hong Kong Ping Pong. Dressing up is a big part of Swingamajig, though it’s not compulsory, you may at times feel you’ve entered another dimension as yet another dusty top hat goes meandering by. Good vibes are always set to maximum here; so go for a wander, peek in every corner, make some friends and see what mysteries you can unearth. We’ll be knocking back gin cocktails in the Cave of Curiosities. Come say hello.
