The highly influential scruffy indie rockers with the silly name played an intimate show at The Sunflower Lounge in October as part of a low key tour, giving fans a real chance to get up close and personal with a band revered by critics and peers alike. Bursting onto the scene with 2007’s ‘Wait For Me’ which quickly achieved gold status and saw them nominated as best new act at the Q Awards. Championed by Jo Whiley and Steve Lamacq a stratospheric rise followed that took them to to Glastonbury’s pyramid stage and playing to 15,000 fans in Leeds’ Millennium Square. It’s been all quiet on the pigeon front since 2013’s ‘We Met At Sea’ and its lukewarm reception but hopefully that low key tour has got things moving again, ready for action at the Institute and the much anticipated new album ‘Broken Glances’ released in February 2017. Just still don’t ask them about the band name…
