Birmingham’s annual invitation to go wild in the countryside is already upon us with tickets already flying out fast for the Lunar Festival. Midlands’ own festival of mellow musical mayhem, magical camping antics and wild bohemian abandon looks set to fulfil all its all its promises again this year with Super Furry Animals, Mercury Rev and Televison amongst the headliners joined by the likes of Badly Drawn Boy, Os Mutantes and Bentley Rhythm Ace and late night entertainment courtesy of Magic Door, Craig Charles and Leftfoot as well as Psyche Magik’s  Magik Forest’s Arabian Tent. Alongside the musical hype there’ll be the very best of Birmingham (and friends’) bohemian offerings for all the family including unusual delights such as the Northern Soul Dance School, Disco Babies, Drum n Bounce, Hedgerow Headresses, Sound Baths and How Brave is the Wren’s beautiful storytelling caravan. Raj Circus will also be returning to add their unique spectacle to the show. The now infamous Nick Drake Record Player sets a more spiritual mood in the woods. The event takes place in the exquisite surrounds of Tanworth-in-Arden, Nick Drake’s childhood stomping ground, with the picturesque surrounds of the Umberslade Estate (and farm for the kids) providing a beautiful backdrop for this fun-filled weekend. Early booking is advised to reserve your spot as this annual institution has gathered some speed year on year and tickets are bound to sell out sooner rather than later.

Fri 3 Jun – Sun 5 Jun, The Umberslade Estate, Tanworth-in-Arden, B94 5AE. Weekend tickets £115, day tickets £45. See: tickets
