When we see a particularly striking stage performance we might ask ourselves, “How did that come together?” Well, ‘Open Art Surgery – Moving Rap’ is your chance to observe exciting new hip-hop theatre work as it’s still crystallizing. You’ll see four UK rap vocalists including RTKal from Brum bringing new characters to life after which you’ll have an opportunity to give the artists incisive feedback on their work. Moving Rap is hosted by winsome hip-hop theatre practitioner Jonzi D the founder and artistic director of Jonzi D Projects and of event hosts Breakin’ Convention and an associate artist at Sadler’s Wells. A dancer, spoken word artist, director and advocate for hip hop, he is credited for changing the profile of the UK British hip hop dance and theatre scene over the last two decades. Joining him is Birmingham’s own award-winning rapper-saxophonist Soweto Kinch. Breakin’ Convention have already hosted 5 sell out festival shows in Birmingham so book fast to avoid disappointment.
