Hip hop positivists De La Soul are set to play Birmingham nearly 28 years to the day from proclaiming 3 to be the magic number back in their 1989 debut LP. Their socially conscious lyrics and widely accessible beats have secured their position as an entry level alternative hip hop act, winning them many fans across the world. The show is part of a tour which follows the release of their ninth album, And the Anonymous Nobody, whose crowd funding campaign reached its goal of $110,000 in just 10 hours. It features guest appearances by Snoop Dogg to David Byrne, further evidencing the band’s ongoing relevance from the golden age to the present day.
