Snack sized morsels of home spun wisdom from Essex boy Jay McAllister on subjects as diverse as things your parents told you to terrorism. The master of a willfully understated social philosophy told simply and elegiacally with good humour through a rasping Essex drawl and lazily strummed guitar. Horizontally laid back and possessed of an easy charm, his live shows feel a bit like accidentally wandering into his house and being made to feel most welcome. After a wonderful show at The Hare and Hounds last December he’s back in the city as part of an inspired double trouble bill with the gloriously anarchic punk folk rabble rousers Skinny Lister.
