Legend is a status too easily ascribed to what is little more than average these days, but when it comes to Buddy Guy it is a description entirely appropriate. According to Rolling Stone magazine, the 30th greatest guitarist of all time and an influence on the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page and Keith Richards, the Louisiana born blues master is bringing his anarchic riffs to Birmingham this week. For half a century Guy has been wowing audiences and critics alike with his musical virtuosity, once described by Eric Clapton as “the greatest guitar player alive,” This is a great opportunity to see a true living legend. And with a bit of luck he’ll perform Just Playing with my Axe.
