Black Sabbath have announced details of their final ever live show coming to Birmingham this summer.
The iconic metal group, fronted by Ozzy Osbourne, will headline a packed one-day festival at Villa Park on Sat 5 Jul.
The Back to the Beginning concert will mark the first time that Black Sabbath’s original line-up – Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward – have played together in two decades.
The unique event will celebrate the heavy metal pioneers and will see Osbourne play his own short set before joining Black Sabbath for his final performance.
A packed lineup features a plethora of fellow rock legends, including the likes of Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Anthrax, Alice in Chains, Mastodon and more. Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello will also be appearing and serving as Music Director.
In addition, the concert will see a new supergroup playing, with Billy Corgan, Slash, Fred Durst, Wolfgang Van Halen and Morello joining forces.
In a statement, Ozzy said: “It’s my time to go Back To The Beginning… time for me to give back to the place where I was born. How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love? Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham Forever.”
Proceeds from the show will support Cure Parkinson’s, the Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Acorn Children’s Hospice, a Children’s Hospice supported by Aston Villa.
Tickets for the show will go on sale on Fri 14 Feb.
