Ahead of its return this autumn, Birmingham Comedy Festival has announced a huge lineup featuring more than 150 acts.

The award-winning festival, which will run from Fri 4 Oct – Sun 13 Oct, unites some of the biggest names in comedy with future stars from around the West Midlands.

Taking to stages this year will be Sarah Millican (Sun 13 Oct, Symphony Hall), The Mash Report’s Rachel Parris (Thu 10 Oct, Town Hall), and Maisie Adam (Tue 8 Oct, Town Hall).

Also featured are the likes of Milton Jones (Sun 6 Oct, Town Hall); Laura Lexx (Thu 10 Oct, Old Joint Stock) (Jason Byrne (Fri 11 Oct, Town Hall); Hollyoaks and EastEnders star Richard Blackwood (Sun 13 Oct, The Glee Club) and Schalk Bezuidenhout (Sun 6 Oct, The Glee Club).

The festival’s always-popular free half-dayers will be back, too, with 16 free one-hour comedy shows taking place on Sun 6 Oct and Sun 13 Oct.

As well as the live standup, there will be a triple-bill of Laurel and Hardy films (Fri 11 Oct, West Midlands Police Museum), while the play Howerd’s End (Thu 3- Sat 5 Oct, Old Joint Stock) explores the troubled life of comedian Frankie Howerd, and Hancock’s Half Hour: The Lost TV Episodes (Fri 4 Oct, The Crescent Theatre) recreates three long lost episodes from the 1950s BBC sitcom.
