Dovetailing nicely with the 6 of the Best festival this weekend showcasing the best in cinema from UK female filmmakers, Bad Girls presents is the first in what is going to be a series of events highlighting female artists from around the Midlands. Six artists working across a range of mediums will have art on display. Elizabeth Ilsley’s range of slogan adorned leather jackets have caused quite a stir, but we absolutely love her challenging neon porn print series Zero Fucks Given. Molly Cleaver already has a highly recommended exhibition of her arresting art running at Minerva Works. Hannah Al-Shemmeri’s comic art you may be familiar with from the several posters she has produced for local events as well as appearing in magazines. We’re just skimming the surface here; add tattooist Emily Carroll, Brazilian Brummie artist Priscila Magalhães Bezerra Baker and the manga inspired portraits of Lily Gabrielle, that’s half a dozen of the best Bad Girls artists in one place. It’s not just art though, the evening will be rounded off with DJ sets till the early hours.
