A stunning festive light trail is set to transform Birmingham Botanical Gardens this winter.

Returning from November, Luminate invites visitors to weave their way through the gardens whilst taking in mesmerising installations and getting hands-on with interactive light play.

The trail will be accompanied by a beautiful soundtrack, and, new for Birmingham this year, will be a spectacular laser and searchlight show set to a medley of music.

Along the route, there will be mulled wine and marshmallows to toast on fire pits, with delicious food and drink also available in the gardens’ picturesque courtyard. Make a Wish also returns, where visitors can write their wish on a tag and pin it to the wall, with the Luminate fairies looking to make a lucky visitor’s dream come true.

Floor projections will feature an array of exciting botanical nods, there’ll be glistening butterflies, green fireflies and even a Mirrorball Lagoon

For the first time, Christmas party guests will also have a chance to visit Luminate as part of Silent Night, Birmingham Botanical Gardens’ new festive offering for corporate parties and get-togethers.

Janine Maycock, part of the Luminate team, says: “We’re so excited about returning to Birmingham for 2025. We work hard to ensure Luminate is a fun and enchanting evening out. We work with the best in the business to create bespoke installations and the trail is different each year, so there is always a surprise. We can’t wait to share the experience and look forward to welcoming people for the first time as well as our returning visitors.”

A spokesperson for Birmingham Botanical Gardens says: “We are thrilled to host Luminate at the Gardens this year. The light trail will bring a magical atmosphere to our beautiful surroundings, making it a must-see event for families and visitors during the festive period.

“We’re also delighted that Luminate is supporting our chosen charities by donating tickets to them.”

The trail is on a wide, hard-surface path suitable for wheelchairs, mobility scooters, and pushchairs, and there will be dedicated evenings for those with Special Educational Needs this season.

Luminate also works with Ecologi to offset their carbon and has planted almost 84,000 trees to date, with a target of 100,000 in the next 12 months.

Luminate runs at Birmingham Botanical Gardens Fri 28 Nov – Thu 1 Jan. Book your tickets using the button below.
