Kings Heath art gallery, nook, has unveiled plans for a weekend-long celebration of Polish artists, makers and cultural organisers.
The BABski WEEKEND will run from Fri 5 Jun – Sun 7 Jun as part of Polish Heritage Days. The programme will spotlight the incredible array of Polish talent helping to shape Birmingham’s creative landscape.
What originally started as nook’s Polish-born Brummi founder, Gosia, wanting to bring a Polish film to the venue’s cosy cinema has quickly grown into three days of festivities.

Explaining the inspiration behind the event, nook says: “We wanted to create a space where artists, makers and cultural practitioners could share their work, ideas and ambitions. Not as representatives of a community, but as creative people whose practices contribute to the cultural life of this city every day.”
A creative showcase will launch on Friday at 7pm, before running throughout the course of the weekend. This coincides with a Friday evening social, running between 7pm – 9pm.
On Sat 6 Jun, nook’s cosy cinema will also be hosting a screening of My Nikifor, a story of art, perseverance and recognition against the odds.
