Birmingham Open Studios (BOS) will return this autumn, marking the eighth edition of the much-loved art trail.

This year’s trail, which has become a fixture in Birmingham’s creative calendar, features 165 artists and groups, with each participant displaying their craft within their own home or studios.

Originally founded in 2017 and limited to Moseley and Kings Heath, the event now covers most of the city, boasting venues from Erdington to Kings Norton.

The public is invited to view all of the artists’ work – for free – in the artist’s creative environment, giving them an insight into the artist’s lives and creative processes.

Local comedian and artist Joe Lycett is BOS ambassador for the second year running.

BOS invites artists at all levels to participate equally, whether they’re at the very beginning of their careers or have been honing their craft for years. The event also offers the chance for artists to sell their pieces directly to the public commission-free.

To make the event more accessible, BOS Crowdfunded to develop an app for the 2024 trail. The app is free to download, available for Android and iPhone. The BOS website, guidebook and app also list wheelchair-accessible studios, as well as artists offering live demonstrations.

This year’s trails will run Sat 28 Sep – Sun 29 Sep and Sat 5 Oct – Sun 6 Oct, between 11am – 5pm. For more information, and to download the app/guidebook, click here.
