Guests dining at Opheem over Diwali can enjoy a limited-edition cocktail, as the restaurant joins forces with Scotch whisky veterans Johnnie Walker.

The special dessert serve is crafted using Johnnie Walker’s new Blue Label Indian Festive Blend. A collaboration with acclaimed designer Rahul Mishra, the exclusive blend has been created by Johnnie Walker Master Blender Dr Emma Walker using some of the rarest whiskies from the brand’s reserves.

The Opheem cocktail combines Johnnie Walker Festive Blend with Borghetti coffee liqueur, beetroot juice, chai syrup and a shot of espresso, all of which is shaken hard over ice and strained, before being garnished with freeze-dried beetroot powder.

For those wanting to try and recreate the drink at home, the full recipe is below:

35ml Johnnie Walker Festive Blend

5 ml Borghetti coffee liqueur

15ml beetroot juice

15ml Chai syrup

30ml (1 shot) espresso (Opheem use Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee from Difference Coffee)

Speaking about the new bottle, Dr Emma Walker said: “I was captivated by the artistry of Indian cuisine, the way chefs balance bold spice with harmony, elegance and depth. That sense of balance became my inspiration for this special Blue Label blend.

“By layering aromatic notes of cardamom, clove and cinnamon with smooth sweetness and our signature depth of flavour, we’ve created a whisky that complements the richness of India’s festive table while remaining unmistakably Johnnie Walker Blue Label. Every sip is designed to evoke warmth, celebration and discovery. Indian in spirit. Unmistakably Johnnie Walker Blue Label.”

Johnnie Walker’s Festive Blend is available exclusively at Selfridges in Birmingham.
