The National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire has unveiled plans for a family-friendly programme of seasonal activities.

Coinciding with October half-term, the 150-acre garden and woodland estate will host an interactive outdoor trail, arts and crafts and lively storytelling sessions.

Running from Sat 26 Oct – Sun 1 Dec, priced at £2.50pp, the Autumn Activity Trail invites families to pick up a trail sheet from the Welcome Desk and head out across the Arboretum in search of the Arboretum’s pinecone friends. Visitors can discover the jobs they’re doing to keep the grounds beautiful as the seasons change and return to the Remembrance Centre to collect a special prize.

Free Sensory Storytelling will be running daily across multiple sessions from Mon 28 Oct – Fri 1 Nov. Led by Cora the Squirrel, little ones will go on an adventure to discover the magic of the forest.

There’ll also be free autumn craft sessions in which children can make their own pinecone friend using natural materials collected from the Arboretum, or plant acorns to take home and watch grow, and a self-led Stick Man Outdoor Trail, in which guests are tasked with helping the stick man find his way back to the family tree.

“We’re excited to invite families to enjoy a wonderful mix of seasonal activities this October half term,” said Rachel Smith, Head of Participation and Learning at the National Memorial Arboretum. “Whether exploring the autumn landscape on our trails or crafting with natural materials, there’s something to inspire and entertain visitors of all ages during this special time of year.”
