Film/TV: Queer as Folk and Russell T. Davies Q&A

Twenty years after its initial broadcast on Channel 4, Russell T. Davies’ ground-breaking Queer as Folk is being screened at the MAC this May. The show followed the lives of three gay men in Manchester and celebrated a community that was used to being misrepresented or completely underrepresented on screen. It was praised for its handling of complex gay characters that weren’t just cliché stereotypes and the ten-show series is a landmark of British television. Along with the screening, the MAC welcomes writer and produce Russell T Davies for a Q&A to discuss the legacy of the show. This is a rare opportunity so don’t miss out, tickets are available now.

Sat 18 May, Midlands Arts Centre (MAC), Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham, B12 9QH, £13.25 – £15.25, www.macbirmingham.co.uk
