Nick Mason | Tue 25 Sep | Symphony Hall | £42.50
Mason is a founding member of the psychedelic overlords Pink Floyd, easily the most influential rock band to have ever existed. Several decades of their music has permeated popular consciousness in a way no other band has come close to matching and yes we’re including The Beatles. A lumbering seriousness that has seen The Floyd’s sonic canon veer seamlessly from trite to deathly serious as easily as Arnold Layne stealing knickers from washing lines. With his Saucerful of Secrets band, including Spandau Ballet’s Gary Kemp on guitar, delves through the trippiest moments of Floyd’s oeuvre recalling the acid hazed sixties of Syd Barrett and it’s quite wonderful. www.thsh.co.uk

Patawawa | Wed 26 Sep | Sunflower Lounge | £6.60
Electronic flights of delirious pop fantasy fill Patawawa’s dreamy sound, gloriously stomping original disco beats given a twenty first century edge by the Matlock trio. That involuntary twitching you can feel are your dancing muscles beginning to flex, its a simple and sweet concoction. This is the first date on their first ever UK tour so get down the Sunflower Lounge and feel the grooves before anyone else gets a chance to. www.seetickets.com

Major Parkinson | Wed 26 Sep | Hare & Hounds | £11
You’ll be pleased to hear that not all Scandinavian rock is intensely forged satanic thrash metal, Bergen’s finest, Major Parkinson, make a wonderfully eclectic noise that at times recalls Laibach and others The No Smoking Orchestra filtered through the Cardiacs’ askew world view, whilst at all times being held in check by the authoritatively solemn vocals of founder member Jon Ivar Kollbotn. The self styled Freigeist Cinematic Rockers from Norway are impossible to categorise with the exception of being incredible live. www.skiddle.com

Muncie Girls | Thu 27 Sep | Cuban Embassy | £11.25
A pop punk band with something to say? What will they think of next. Exeter’s Muncie Girls finally got around to releasing their debut album in 2016 and from the Sylvia Plath inspired title From Caplan to Belsize through the raft of rousingly intelligent songs, it is an album with a serious political heart. Songs like Respect and Committee reveal a clued up personal energy that seeks to challenge misogyny and the dearth of radicalism.  Our favorite though is the Plath inspired Gas Mark 4.  www.skiddle.com

Fling | Thu 27 Sep | Sunflower Lounge | £6.60
Dayglo indie riot pop noise from this fresh faced Bradford five piece, overflowing with snotty attitude and an impressive range of rock and roll venom. Catchy singalong tunes pulsating with irresistible hooks mark tracks such as Annie, Just a Dog and the skinny noise of latest tune Extra Special, you’re going to be hearing a lot about Fling, plug in early. www.seetickets.com

With a supporting slot alongside Nothing But Thieves on their recent US and European tours the Peterborough based band have increased an already growing profile tenfold with their infectious brand of sophisticated indie rock. Incorporating breezy eighties electro riffs into tightly wound twenty first century guitar noise gives Airways an almost hard nosed pop edge that is both beguiling and unique when matched with vocalist Jake’s cute lyricism. www.seetickets.com

Bakar | Sun 30 Sep | Sunflower Lounge | £8.80
An artist on the cusp of greatness, hailing from North London, Bakar takes hard edged indie rock riffs and twists them round a razor sharp lyricism that is rich with relateable motifs. Ruthlessly shaking what can at times be a tired genre and exploding it in his own vision in relentless waves of hip hop inspired chill and slacker raps. Go and plug your brains into new mixtape Badkid, a stunning musical scrapbook, and see what we mean.  seetickets.com

Jordan Mackampa | Mon 1 Oct | Cuban Embassy | £9.60
Rising Coventry talent Jordan Mackampa is drawing all kinds of comparisons, jostling for that sweet Radio 1 indie-soul spot between Michael Kiwanuka and Ben Howard.
