West Thebarton | Tue 14 Aug | Sunflower Lounge | £7.70
Bringing a raucous energy from down under come Adelaide’s seven piece alt rock noise merchants West Thebarton, it’s clear being a septet has furnished a rag tag of influences on the band’s sound from punk and hardcore through to grunge, delivered with a unique Aussie downbeat flair. It’s a pile driving noise that grips the throat of gravel voiced singer Reverend Ray and doesn’t let go. New album Different Beings Being Different is a corker, following their European tour the band hit several festivals including Reading on the Radio 1 Stage.  www.seetickets.com

Wye Oak | Sun 19 Aug | Hare & Hounds | £13.20
Ingenious duo from Maryland whose dreamy pop symphonies are anchored in a perfectly otherworldly realm between indie rock and folk. This years new album, The Louder I Call The Faster It Runs, is the band’s most sophisticated and mature yet, intricate synth melodies are weaved effortlessly through cloudy squalls of guitar and lilting vocals, it’s a beautiful experience. www.seetickets.com

The Nude Party | Mon 20 Aug | Sunflower Lounge | £6.60
Hoist your rock gizzards to the sky as North Carolina’s The Nude Party let loose some old fashioned rock and roll, more dangerous than a Chevrolet plummeting off a cliff, their back to basics mayhem is plugged straight into the blues and distilled through a half century of rock, it could be naff but there’s a knowing glint in those deep blue eyes. Our own psychedelic screaming fuzz warlords Hungry Ghosts provide unmissable support. www.seetickets.com

Omni | Mon 20 Aug | Hare & Hounds | £11
Atlanta post-punk trio Omni distill the buzz and grit that snakes through the best of Television, Devo, and Pylon into surprisingly danceable, hook-laden slabs of raw, sonic bliss. Shamelessly lo-fi, pinballing guitars bounce from note to note while the motorik rhythm section drive a spike through the Berlin phonebook. Angular, lethally coiled riffs change on a dime, then become locked into This Heat grooves. In other words, Omni are students of the post-punk masters. Read our full preview here.
