For the third time in a year Lancaster’s The Lovely Eggs return to Birmingham, they must like it here and we certainly love having them. The Lovely Eggs are one of the most dynamically turbocharged and lyrically clued up duo’s to ever beat a drum and thrash a guitar. The married couple of Holly Ross and David Blackwell have a gloriously askew and uniquely English view of an unsettling world which they make sense of in a raft of songs that drift from peculiarly upbeat swipes at a senseless modernity through to sometimes slightly maudlin rants at the difficulty of love and a charming sideways look at everything between. Beloved of Steve Lamacq and Marc Riley (and us), The Lovely Eggs leave a trail of delightfully cute destruction wherever they go, come and get nicely psyched out.
