Brand new party brand Reflect calls itself a ‘movement’, and its manifesto is simple: to provide an affordable night out for Birmingham’s underground music lovers, and to give the city’s up-and-coming selectors a platform to show off their skills. That’s surely something we can all get behind. And it’s all entirely student-led, with the organisers behind the event and the DJs themselves hailing from universities around Birmingham. This particular event marks the University of Birmingham Underground Music Society’s first foray into the world of clubbing, and it’s looking likely to be a huge success. Well, why shouldn’t it be? All the ingredients are right: a booming Void Acoustics sound system, a suitably edgy venue and, more importantly, some of the most exciting music making waves in sonic subterranea right now. Speaking of which, the main room will host an urban concoction of garage, grime and drum and bass, while room 2 will feature grooves from the lands of disco, house and techno. Support the movement.
