Local comedian and illustrator Danny Clives produces garishly cute caricatures that have had their multi coloured ink dipped into instantly recognisable elements of popular culture. Bold and fun, why not enjoy both Clives’ art and a fine cup of coffee while you’re at it. Prints are available to buy at very reasonable prices, we just might invest in that picture of R2D2 in the bath.

An American Werewolf in London screening at The Mockingbird
The great John Landis was at the top of his game in the early 80’s producing such classics as ‘The Blues Brothers’ and ‘Trading Places’. In ‘An American Werewolf in London’ he created not only an uproarious black comedy but a ground breaking genre film that set a towering horror benchmark for others to follow. The astonishing special effects from Rick Baker still look jaw droppingly good after 35 years; David Naughton’s transformation into the titular beast is one of cinema’s, not just horror’s, most electrifying sequences.

Poetry Jam at 200 Degrees
The monthly poetry jam’s have become something of an essential literary experience, bringing together a host of performers across all genres from experienced to first timers, creating a special energy and vibrancy that is unique to the Jam. There will be laughter, there may be tears, but there will definitely be honesty. Expect clicking but don’t be alarmed, that’s the audience agreeing, approving or just plain enjoying proceedings. If you want to perform on the open mic get there at least 15 minutes before the start. Note the exciting new venue.

The Mourning Suns at The Dark Horse
Birmingham based rockers The Mourning Suns are an eclectic gaggle of musicians that manage to mix disparate genres with a casual virtuosity. Sophisticated folk guitar plucking, blues virtuosity and a hint of classical, all tightly held in place by Rosemary Wilkes’ powerful voice. Excellent live performers they are joined tonight by Lichfield funkster Venkman and DJ Irmao.
