The savage kings of Cardiff’s underbelly, Future of the Left have long perfected their balance of bollock-punching low-end, wiry guitar stabs and Andy Falkous’s comically bitter sloganeering. There’s nary a whiff of compromise on this year’s crowd-funded LP The Peace and Truce of Future of the Left, having shed their keyboard sounds (and one guitarist) for an angular, raw garage rock assault. The sweaty cellar of the Flapper, squatting on the canal behind the Symphony Hall, should be just the right venue to get your eardrums bruised. Come for the exasperated, blistering anger of a hard-working cult band, stay for the stage rants bordering on stand-up comedy. And don’t heckle them.
