Mysterious Skin (dir: Gregg Araki, 2004, cert 18) at The Nightingale Club
Tough and uncomfortable viewing as two sexually abused boys take very different paths into adulthood. It’s uncompromising and unfiltered approach should not detract from what is a very powerful film tinged with tragedy and even humour. Joseph Leonard Gordon-Levitt is excellent as gay hustler Neil and is the perfect foil for Brady Corbet’s bemused alien obsessed Brian. An important film tackling a sometimes taboo subject.

CocoMAD Festival 2016 at Cotteridge Park
The beautiful surroundings of Cotteridge park play host to the annual CoCoMAD festival that comes with a stellar and eclectic line up.
