A cornucopia of some of the funniest, weirdest most wonderfully obscure and pertinent comedy from across the EU is celebrated in this week-long festival. Acts are mostly edited down versions of full shows so catch a few of these snappy 20-30min sets to take full advantage of the variety on offer. Some highlights include:
Stuff by previous Cirque du Soleil performer Sean Kempton (UK). This new solo show uses an engrossing and playful comedic acrobatic sensibilities to tell a story about love, integrating mime, clown, physical comedy and other physical disciplines.
The Uk Premiere of Transnational Artist by Heidi Blumenfeld by Andrej Tomse (Slovenia). A ‘holier-than-thou mission to redefine high art through kitsch performance and circus’ that plays with sometimes funny, sometimes awkward gender-bending acrobatics too.
You Had to be There by Uncanny Theatre (UK). This funny and clever show delves into the underlying questions about friendship, loneliness, regret and good times, whilst just possibly offering up the most memorable moment of your life.
