The Kitchen Garden Cafe continues to pull pop-up residents worth shouting about out of the bag, with Japanese chef Sachiko Saeki continuing her residency throughout September. With a host of accolades and expertise under her apron already, Sachiko’s artistic expertise and cooking techniques inspired by her family’s Buddhist beliefs has seen her guest in Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s kitchen and work with The Guardian as well as teaching Japanese cooking at Leith’s School of Food and Wine in London, Demuth’s Vegetarian Cookery School in Bath and Harbourne Food School in Birmingham. Menus for late summer include exquisite sounding Kinome Salmon Sashimi with cucumber ponzu, oba, cress & summer herbs, Miso marinated grilled black cod served with marinated gobo, pickled radish & tofu cream, vegetarian delights like Gammo – crispy tofu balls with marinated gobo, lotus root crisps & goma ae and Anmitsu Dessert – apricot kernel & shiso kanten, sweet mochi, oba cream, marinated peach in plum wine syrup. See the Kinome website below for more details.
