A name synonymous with terrifying audiences since William Freidkin’s chilling movie adaptation of William Peter Blatty’s novel in 1973. Well now it’s the turn of theatre goers to experience the horror as the UK premiere of John Pielmeier’s stage version comes to the Rep. There’s a deliberate air of mystery surrounding the content of the production and the trailer gives nothing away, but we’ve certainly heard whispers of vomit and revolving heads. What we do know is that world class director Sean Mathias is orchestrating the action with award winning designers Ben Hart and Anna Fleischle creating the sets and effects. A very strong cast includes many familiar faces from film and TV including Peter Bowles, Jenny Seagrove and Clare Louise Connolly as the possessed Regan. The mystery is certainly creating a buzz as the guessing game continues as to what will be included. We’re hoping for a demonic spiderwalk across the ceiling and we’ve been told acrobatics ARE involved. If you dare go, expect your wits to be separated from your body.
