Birmingham’s raucous rebels Superfood return to the city, with a new album on the horizon, as part of the Dirty Hit Records tour. Like a 21st century Supergrass the Superfood boys and girl ply energetic and exuberant fresh faced indie anthems fortified with a youthful bravura that puts smiles on faces and bodies on the dance floor. Songs like ‘TV’, ‘Mood Bomb’ and ‘You Can Believe’ bounce along with a mischievous glint, tongue in cheek lyricism and nostalgically engineered indie riffs. New track ‘Double Dutch’ sees the band move into new experimental almost poppy areas and gets us very excited to hear more new material. Superfood do not stand still. Heavy duty rock out support comes from the blistering King Nun whose tightly honed guitar juggernaut will have the sweat pouring from your banging heads. Manchester’s refined Pale Waves complete the bill with their dreamy indie pop. Three happening contemporary bands in one night for your dollar.
